PHILADELPHIA – Park Chan-ho had his second straight effective outing to win his first game with Philadelphia, and Jayson Werth stole home to lead the Phillies to a 5-3 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League on Tuesday.
Park (1-1) has rebounded nicely after a dreadful start this season. He walked none and gave up two runs in six innings. Raul Ibanez continued to look like a smart pickup for the Phillies, hitting a two-RBI double in the fourth for a 4-2 lead.
Werth stole home in the seventh inning and tied a team record with four steals in one game.
Clayton Kershaw (1-3) started for the Dodgers, who fell to 1-4 without suspended slugger Manny Ramirez.
At Chicago, Milton Bradley hit a towering two-run homer off Jake Peavy and Rich Harden pitched six sharp innings as Chicago beat San Diego, 6-2.
Alfonso Soriano and Kosuke Fukudome both had two doubles and three hits, Bobby Scales added his first major league home run and Harden (4-1) won his fourth straight decision for the Cubs.
Peavy (2-5), whom the Cubs were interested in obtaining in the offseason, is the last Padres starter to get a win, on April 16. San Diego has lost nine straight road games, and four in a row overall.
Bradley, who hit his fourth homer, has a five-game hitting streak. He came into Tuesday’s game hitting .179 with six RBIs.
At Pittsburgh, Zach Duke limited St. Louis to three singles over eight innings after giving up a homer to Albert Pujols in the first as Pittsburgh beat St. Louis, 7-1, to end an eight-game losing streak. (AP)
