Red Cubs thump Baby Tamaraws

MANILA, Philippines – San Beda picked up its third win in four games with a 74-55 rout of Far Eastern U in the TriDharma Mktg. Corp Filipino-Chinese Basketball League second Freego Jeans’ Cup at Buddhacare Gym near Araneta Ave. in QC recently.

Art dela Cruz Jr., son of ex-pro Art dela Cruz, fired 15 points as the Red Cubs tied La Salle-Zobel in third place in the high school cagefest supported by Energen Cereal Energy Drink, Hi-Smart Vitamins and Nutri-C Juice.

The young Dela Cruz, also named the Hi-Smart Player of the Game, was backed by Von Chaves and Dave Moralde, who chipped in 12 apiece.

Terrence Romeo and Paulo Talavara had 20 points apiece for the Baby Tams, who took their fifth loss against a lone win in the tournament backed by f’g Revolution Denim, Dickies Underwear, Old Chinatown Koptitiam, Clincher Packaging Tape, Nougat Candy, Colt Commercial, Powerbest Marketing Inc. and Star Galaxy Industrial Fabricator Inc.

In other games, Ateneo scored its sixth win in a row with a 105-54 romp over Chiang Kai Shek College. Paolo Romero led the Blue Eaglets with 12 points.

University of Santo Tomas thumped St. Jude, 77-32, for its third win in five games. Ron Javier paced the Tiger Cubs with 17. St. Jude fell to 0-5.
