Cardinals, Bombers collide as Filoil caging resumes
MANILA, Philippines - Action in the Filoil Flying V Pre-Season MVP Cup resumes today with Ateneo shooting for its fifth win in six games against winless National U side at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
The Eagles and the Bulldogs clash in the 4 p.m. main game of a triplebill that also pits Mapua vs Jose Rizal U at 12:30 p.m. and Letran vs St. Benilde at 2:15 p.m.
The Cards are looking for a follow up to their 80-61 rout of the Perpetual Help Atlas last week before the league took a long break. But they will have their hands full against the Heavy Bombers, who tote a 2-1 card.
JRU dropped a sorry 76-77 loss to Ateneo.
The Knights, on the other hand, will still be playing minus top guns RJ Razul and Rey Guevarra, who are with the RP team training in Las Vegas. But they are picked to prevail over the Blazers, still winless in three starts.
The Blue Eagles are tipped to get past the Bulldogs, who also dropped their first two games in the tournament backed by Adidas, Total Phils., Inc., SMART Sports, CDO, Pioneer Insurance, Philippine Daily Inquirer, The Philippine STAR, Filoil, Flying V, Astaro/Karspersky, Douwe Egberts, Brothers Burger, Shell, Gourmet Coffee, Cecon/Surbex, Kolin/Syntax, Standard Chartered, DMCI Homes, Jaycees, V-Star, V-8, Tamayo’s Restaurant, Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP), Molten, the official ball, Insular, Channel V and Makisig Channel, the league’s official televisiion coveror and Molten is the official ball.
