Garcia-Fernandez sets pace

ANTIPOLO, Philippines – Defending champion Raffy Garcia-Jaime Fernandez pooled 72 points to set the pace in the low gross race in the Forest Hills Invitational at the Nicklaus course.

Garcia fired a five-under-par 67, while Fernandez returned a 73 for a stableford score of 72 for a seven-shot lead over the Edgar Lee-Mike Morada tandem and another shot up on the Miggs Garcia-Jeung Hun-il combine in the event presented by Hyundai and Golforce.

Aside from a brand-new Tucson, golf carts from Yamaha, Club Car and Texas Eagle and P100,000 in cash from Taishan Insurance are also being dangled for aces on designated holes. Today’s awards rites also stake a Hyundai i10 to a lucky winner in the raffle.

Morada had a 70, while Lee fired a 77 for a net 65. Garcia and Jeong assembled a 76 and a 74, respectively. The pair of Pelagio Alcantara and Ed Gaspi paced Group I with 83. 

Joseph Salao-Jun Castañeda paced low net competition with 84 points followed by the Alcantara-Legaspi combine, which was a stroke ahead of the third running Victor Ty-Raul Ilagan team in the event is backed by MCC Steel Corp., Pagcor and Sun Cellular.
