MANILA, Philippines - Manny de Guzman fired a net 55 then nipped Ric Mongalo in the countback to capture the Group I plum in the Architects Golf Club’s monthly tournament at the Sherwood Hills Golf Club in Trece Martires, Cavite recently.
De Guzman, a 15 handicapper, scored a gross 86 then clinched the close win with a birdie on No. 16. Mongalo, with a 16 handicap, had an 87 for a net 55 but could only make par on the 16th and settled for runner-up honors.
Paul Henry de Dios placed third with a 54 from a gross 82.
Gold Baria topped the Group II division with 59 points from a gross 86, beating Joe Felis, who scored a gross 88 for a net 57. Jojo Balderama made 54 points from a gross 90 for third.
Sanny Santiago ruled Group III with 63 points from a gross 85 while Simeon Tan took runner-up honors with 56 from a gross 94.
Hubert Agcamaran scored 52 points from a gross 104 as he copped the Group IV plum by one over Greg Concepcion, who had 51 points from a 103.

Meanwhile, registration for the AGC anniversary tournament, slated May 18 at the Baguio Country Club and May 19 at Camp John Hay, is ongoing.
