MANILA, Philippines – Top three-year-old gallopers are set to rumble today in the Philracom Diamond II and III stakes races at the San Lazaro Leisure and Business Park (SLLBP) in Carmona, Cavite.
Hermie Esguerra’s champion colt Go Army with couple entry Go Navy, picked as the outstanding favorite, leads the cast of runners in the Philracom Diamond II race open to all registered locally born three-year-old colts.
Blue Ocean, also owned by Esguerra with couple entry Eternal Flame, heads the contenders in the Diamond III race open to all registered locally born fillies that have participated in a race.
Each race will have a top prize of P300,000 to be disputed over a distance of 1,500 meters.
Other runners in the colts division are C & H Enterprises, Inc.’s Action Sailor, Bernard Rivera’s Batangas Baron, Bonifacio Mantilla’s Boni’s Gem, Rodolfo Pineda’s Creation, Raul Monasterio’s Dancing Storm, Rita Pilapil’s Lively Dude and Christian Reyes’ Oko Boy.
In the fillies division, protagonists include Aristeo Puyat’s Boudica, Rita Pilapil’s Heaven Sent, Honorato Neri’s La Huerta, L.M. Javier/R.Q. Pineda’s Primera Klasse and Albino Ferreras’ State Witness.
The runners-up in each division get P112,500, third P62,500 and fourth P25,000. The breeders of the winning horses will receive P15,000 each.
“The commission is honored to sponsor these events which prepare our top three-year-old horses for the grand event, the Triple Crown Stakes Races,” said Philracom chair Jose Ferdinand Rojas II.
