MANILA, Philippines - Jobim Carlos and Regina de Guzman dominated Class A while Miggy Yee remained in control in Class C at the completion of the first half of Callaway Junior World qualifying tournament at the Legends course of Manila Southwoods in Carmona, Cavite Wednesday.
Carlos carded a three-over 75 to post a five-stroke lead over Eric Gallardo with a 36-hole total of 148 in the boys division while de Guzman primed up for a third straight victory with a similar 75 for a 154 and seven-shot advantage over Maan Legaspi in the girls side.
Yee shot a 70 to pad his lead to five strokes with a 138 aggregate. AR Ramos stood in second with a 143 after a 74.
Philippe Palanca (boys Class E), Nicole Abela (girls Class E), Josh Jorge (boys Class F) and Daniella Uy (girls Class C) stayed on top of their age brackets while new leaders emerged in the other divisions.
LJ Go submitted a 70-143 to grab the boys Class B lead, Cebu’s Irina Gabasa became the new leader in girls Class B with her 71-154, Pauline del Rosario seized control in girls Class D with a 74-153 and Annika Tanoue (106-223) took the lead in girls Class F.
The 108-hole qualifier proceeds to Sherwood Hills next week with 36 slots and 12 free tickets to Los Angeles from Philippine Airlines at stake.
