GEN. TRIAS, Cavite, Philippines – Tony Lascuña took charge in a topsy-turvy round despite a one-over par 73 as he overcame Jay Bayron’s fiery 69 to lead by two shots after the second round of the Philippine Golf Tour’s ICTSI Eagle Ridge Invitational at the Eagle Ridge’s Dye course here yesterday.
Lascuña, whose opening 71 put him just one stroke adrift of Cookie La’O, played a steady round of three birdies against a four bogeys, picking up a shot on the par-5 16th to complete a 36-37 card for a 36-hole aggregate of even par 144.
With La’O blowing his bid with a dismal 82 after a 70, Lascuña seized control with a two-shot lead over Bayron, who bounced back from an awful 77 in the first round with a sizzling three-under par 69 in windy conditions.
It was the only under-par card recorded in another challenging day at the Dye layout with Bayron firing five birdies, including three straight from No. 4 and two more in a bogey-stint at the back.
