MANILA, Philippines - Arvie Bringas finally showed up in a La Salle uniform as he helped lift the Green Archers to a pulsating 67-66 win over the UP Fighting Maroons to notch their second straight win in the Filoil Flying V Pre-Season Cup at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Kish Co made a split in the last 36 seconds as La Salle shattered a 66-all count and UP’s Arvin Braganza missed on a layup at the buzzer, enabling the Archers to escape with the win.
Bringas, the fancied rookie out of San Sebastian College junior team, scattered a team-high 12 points and hauled down seven rebounds as he helped the Archers overcome the stunning performance of 6-4 shooter Mike Silungan, who fired a game-high 26 points, including four triples, for the Maroons.
Ateneo bounced back from its 65-67 setback to La Salle with a 76-65 over College of St. Benilde in the second game of the tournament backed by Adidas, Total Phils., Inc., Smart Sports, CDO, Pioneer Insurance, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Filoil, Flying V, Astaro/Karspersky, Douwe Egberts, Brothers Burger, Shell, Gourmet Coffee, Cecon/Surbex, Kolin/Syntax, The STAR, Standard Chartered, DMCI Homes, Jaycees, V-Star, V-8, Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP), Insular and Channel V.
