MANILA, Philippines - Over 4,000 athletes from 17 regions converge in Naga City tomorrow to compete in the week-long PRISAA National Games.
The event is organized by the PRISAA Bicol Region Chapter with support from Smart Communications, Inc. (SMART).
President Arroyo is expected to be the guest of honor during the opening ceremonies at the Metro Naga Sports Complex.
Manny V. Pangilinan, chairman of SMART and PLDT, will also grace the festival parade and opening rites.
The participants represent 360 private colleges and universities all over the country.
Featured events include basketball, volleyball, football, baseball, softball, badminton, sepak takraw, tennis, table tennis, chess, athletics, taekwondo, karatedo, dance sports, swimming and cultural presentations – the Mutya ng PRISAA and Vocal Solo.
Amateur boxing has been included as a demo sport this year, paving the way for its inclusion as a regular PRISAA event.
The national government has also thrown its support through CHED Secretary and former PRISAA chairman Emmanuel Angeles.
