Army jungolfers dominate interclub

MANILA, Philippines - The Army Golf Club, behind London-based Edward Reyes, ruled the centerpiece Division I of the recent National Jungolf Interclub golf tournament at the Player course of the Orchard Golf and Country Club.

Reyes, firing steady rounds of 54, 51 and 53, teamed up with Gio Gandionco, Lloyd Jefferson Go and Maan Legaspi for 443 points in the four-to-play, three-to-count event for a six-point victory over Aguinaldo 2.

Fancied The Country Club could only place third eight points adrift at 435.

Army, formerly known as Kagitingan, was also declared as co-champions with Aguinaldo 4 in Division 2 while Club Intramuros 5 captured Division 3 in the tourney serving as the kickoff leg of the Jungolf Summer Circuit presented by Philippine Airlines.

Pauline del Rosario, LK Go, Mia Legaspi and Ryan Monsalve made up the lower division Army squad, Kristoffer Arevalo, Justin Dy, Nikolo Gatmaitan and Felicia Medalla composed the Aguinaldo 4 roster while Nicole Abelar, Lance Elmer Ngo and brothers Alex Bernard and Alex Delfin Trinos formed the Intramuros squad.

Nicole Abelar’s ace on the 11th hole served as one of the highlights of the exciting final round. She crowned herself the girls Class E individual champion.
