Lascuña second in Pattaya Open
MANILA, Philippines - Tony Lascuña birdied two of the last nine holes to shoot a 69 and claim runner-up honors in the Singha Pattaya Open ruled by Thai Kiradech Aphibarnrat in record fashion at the Burapha Golf Club in Pattaya, Thailand yesterday.
Lascuña, who had 69, 68 and 66 in the first three rounds, wound up with a 12-under 272 but still lost by 11 strokes as Aphibarnrat ran away with the crown with a record 23-under 261 on a closing 67.
Lascuña took home P182,000.
Rey Pagunsan finished joint 18th with a 283 after a 71 while rookie pro Anthony Fernando, who moved into contention with a 66 in the second but faltered with a 78 the next day, battled back with a one-under 70 to gain a share of 26th at 285.
