DLSU-Mighty Sports battles UST in finals

MANILA, Philippines - De La Salle University-Mighty Sports leaned on a big run in the second half to stun reigning UAAP champion Far Eastern University, 58-48, and advance to the finals of the MBT Women’s Basketball League at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig over the weekend.

The DLSU-Mighty Sports Lady Archers had a slow start and trailed the Lady Tamaraws in the first two quarters but came through with spurts in the third period to turn back the Lady Tams.

A triple by Angeli Gloriani gave DLSU-Mighty Sports its first taste of the lead, then the Lady Archers held on to carve out the victory and arrange a one-game final encounter with University of Santo Tomas today.

Bernadine Yamamoto led DLSU-Mighty Sports with 19 points while Aminah Dimaporo and Gloriani added 10 and 8 points, respectively. Hannah Viterbo made key defensive stops and finished with six points.

UST advanced to the finals by downing Philippine Maritime Institute.
