AUF, UNC rule PRISAA regionals

MANILA, Philippines - Angeles University Foundation stamped its class in Region 3 while University of Nueva Caceres asserted itself in Region 5 in separate Private Schools Athletics Association (PRISAA) Regional Games held recently.

The Angeles University bets romped off with the men’s track and field, taekwondo, baseball and basketball titles while sweeping the men’s and women’s volleyball competitions. 

They also topped the cultural side of the regional sportsfest in annexing the Best Muse and women’s solo singing contests of the event held in the historic city of Malolos, Bulacan.

Wesleyan University shared the spotlight by bagging the men’s sepak takraw crown, women’s softball and badminton and a sweep of the chess competitions.

Systems Plus College Foundation dominated the lawn tennis tournament while Republic Central Colleges and Columbian College split honors in swimming.

On the other hand, University of Nueva Caceres, a Bicol region sports powerhouse, took home four championships, including the coveted men’s basketball plum plus top honors in women’s chess, men’s table tennis and women’s volleyball.

Naga College Foundation put up a strong fight against the UNC athletes in the battle for the regional overall championship after ruling the men’s athletics, men’s badminton and men’s taekwondo events.

Holy Rosary Minor Seminary captured the men’s football tile while Computer Communication Development Institute-Sorsogon waltzed away with the dancesports gold.

University of Northeastern Philippines topped the singing contest while Mabini College took the Best Muse.

The regional champions will compete in the PRISAA National Games scheduled April 19-26 in Naga City, Camarines Sur, with President Arroyo expected to grace the colorful opening rites.
