Celebrity Squash Cup slated April 18

MANILA, Philippines - The Celebrity Squash Cup 2009 will be held April 18 with a mix of players vying for top honors at the Manila Polo Club in Makati.

Sen. Bong Revilla, Rep. Roman Romulo and Philippine sports commissioner Akiko Thomson headline the star-studded field, which includes Richard Gomez, Dino Aldeguer, Angel Jacob, Grace Molina, Quinito and Menchu Henson, Louis Paul Heusaff, Grace Molina and Gilbert Remulla.

Squash, originating in France, is a two-player, high-impact racquet sport game which takes place in a four-walled court. Although more popular in countries such as the United Kingdom and America, the Philippines also has a private local organization, the Squash Rackets Association of the Philippines (SRAP). Established in 1975 and accredited by the World Squash Federation, the SRAP is the national sports association (NSA) for squash in the country.

SRAP is the organizer of Celebrity Squash Cup, through board member Tweetie de Leon-Gonzales.
