MANILA, Philippines - Local junior golfers carry the flags of their home clubs in the National Jungolf Interclub which fires off today at the Player course of the Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmariñas, Cavite.
A total of 170 players will vie for team and individual honors in the three-day tourney the opening of which will be graced by former President Fidel Ramos and National Golf Association of the Philippines president and DOTC Secretary Leandro Mendoza and Federation of Golf Clubs Philippines president Ogie Manalo.
“The field is the biggest we have in years and we hope to see a lot of new talents coming out,” said Gerry Handog. Handog said that the 54-hole tourney starts the Jungolf Summer Circuit presented by Philippine Airlines, which will have eight legs in various courses in Metro Manila. PAL is rewarding the winners of the Junior World qualifiers in April with free tickets to Los Angeles, California this July.
The other sponsors of the summer circuit are Diamond Motor Corp., Club Manrinduque, Unilever, Ottica Corp./Fury, Callaway/Electrobus, Let’s Face It, Golf Depot and Aces Agri Manufacturing Corp. It is also supported by NGAP, Federation of Golf Clubs and Inquirer Golf.
