Anton marks comeback with big win

-

MANILA, Philippines - Baguio’s multi-titled champion Carlos Anton made a big comeback in the autocross scene following his big win in the kickoff of the 2009 Philippine Autocross Championship held at the Clark Expo grounds.

Anton’s 20-year experience in racing showed early in the competition organized by Shago Racing and participated in by over 40 racers from all over the country.

He had the best time of the day in the Open B class on board his Mark Young-Yokohama CRX with the huge support of Yokohama tires, Honitex-laminated flooring, Total Fuels and Lubricants, Home outlet, Autoshack and Steaks and Toppings restaurants.

He continued to improve his lap times all day, finally ending with a 46.41-second run and dedicated his win to his fellow bike racer Jerome Coronado who recently passed away in a motorcycle accident.

“So it’s been quite a while since my last Autocross race in Guam in 2007. And it feels good to be back and still be competitive,” Anton said of his feat after winning the overall crown and five class wins.
