MANILA, Philippines - Angelo Que birdied two of the last six holes to shoot a three-under 69 for a joint eighth place finish in the Black Mountain Masters ruled by Swede Johan Edfors at the Black Mountain Golf Club in Hua Hin, Thailand yesterday.
Que, who bounced back into contention with a 67 in the third round, also made birdies in two of his first 10 holes to negate a lone bogey on No. 12 for a 35-34 card and a 277. He took home $9,464 (P454,000).
That 11-under aggregate gave Que a share of eighth, his best finish in five tournaments in the season marred by a missed cut stint in the Johnnie Walker Classic. He wound up 43rd in Asian Tour International, 16th in Malaysian Open, and 22nd in Indonesia and Thailand Opens.
Frankie Miñoza also put on a strong finishing kick with a four-under card in the last six holes, closing out with an eagle-aided 68 to wind up joint 12th with a 278 worth $6,483 (P311,000).
Miñoza, who bowed out of the title race with a 75 Saturday, made a stirring 31 at the backside to shoot that 68 and jump from joint 23rd to a share of 14th with six others.
It was also Miñoza’s best finish in the season.
Juvic Pagunsan also rallied with an eagle-spiked 67, salvaging a share of 21st with a 279 while Artemio Murakami had a 71 for joint 281.
Edfors hung tough with a 68 to beat Thai Prayad Marksaeng by two with a 271 aggregate. Marksaeng rallied with a 64 for joint second with Chris Rodgers, carding a 68, at 273.
