Futures Basketball League starts grassroots program in Bacolod

-

MANILA, Philippines - For the first time since its inception in 2005, the school-based Futures Basketball League (FBL) is launching its grasroots basketball development program in Baolod on Sunday at the University of St. La Salle High School.

“This is part of FBL’s nationwide expansion program. In the past, we focused on the key cities of Manila, Cebu in the Visayas, and Davao City in Mindanao. This year, we added Bacolod and looking at Baguio in North Luzon and Cagayan de Oro in Mindanao as the other new venues, “ said Niño Sinco of the organizing Futures Sports and Events which just concluded its Primovit 3-on-3 Baller Battle earlier this year.

Local organizer Roger Banzuela, president of the University Games (UNIGAMES), welcomed the holding of the FBL tournament in Bacolod.

“Our city being considered one of the hotbeds of basketball in the South, we believe FBL will be a big help in the development of local basketball particularly for our young players, “ said Banzuela.

The tournament is presented by Primovit Multi-vitamins and supported by Gatorade, Purefoods TJ Hotdogs, Accord Capital, Dunlop Sports, and Philips Peripherals and Accessories.

the tournament is expected to attract the participation os Bacolod’s top schools including the University of St. la Salle, West Negros Colleges, University of San Agustin, UNO-R, Riverside College, and Taitung High School.
