Pia teaches the big boys how to drift, places 9th among 40
MANILA, Philippines - Team Audio Drive, represented by Pia Boren, the lone female competitor in the Second Castrol underground drift event held at the Alabang Town Center, finished ninth among 40 competitors.
The day started out hectic for Boren whose water pump caused her engine to overheat in the practice rounds. Mechanics, however, were able to resolve the problem time for her official runs.
“The surface of the drift track was quite tricky to master as it was very smooth making it slippery for drifting. Team strategy dictated a change of tires and Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetrics were used for the front tires for maximum grip and to lessen the understeer, which is one of the problems on that sort of surface. The STP octane booster also helped add power to my engine, making it easier to power out through the course,” said Boren, who is also supported by Goodyear, STP, Concept One, Autoteknik Body Works, A-Toy bodykits, after her run.
“I had a great time drifting and we’re gearing up for the third leg on March 28 also at the Alabang Town Center. My teammate and pioneering drifter Paolo Arespacochaga will join me during the fourth leg in April,” Boren added.
