MANILA, Philippines - The Camp John Hay Suites heads the roster of Philippine Corporate Cup golf tournament supporters as title sponsor with 18 other firms backing the blue-ribbon event firing off tomorrow at the Camp John Hay Golf Club in Baguio City.
Camp John Hay Development Corp. is seeking a second straight championship in the centerpiece Division I of the tournament supported by Rudy Project, Golforce, Inc., Club Leisure Management Corp., Rizgolf Sports Marketing, CJH Manor Hotel, Fil-Estate Urban Development Corp and Warbird Securities and Investigation Agency.
With the par-69 rolling layout spruced up to championship condition, competition is expected to be fierce in the 21st staging of the event with more than 300 players forming a record 78-team field in five divisions, including the seniors class.
Organizers of the tournament, backed by Wilson Sports, Mizuno, Manila Southwoods, Sherwood Hills, Forest Hills, Boracay Sands, Fairways and Bluewater, Kork, Inc., Le Chef @ the Manor and Splendido Taal, said practice round is set today with the traditional ceremonial tee off at 5 p.m. The opening cocktails will be held on the 19th tee at 6 p.m.
Hostilities in the four-to-play, three-to-count format event under Molave scoring system begin on tomorrow with the final round of the 36-hole tournament set Wednesday.
A bonfire street party will be held at 6 p.m., also on Wednesday, at The Ark Park at John Hay with the awards nights set on Thursday at the CJH Suites lobby.
Out to foil CJH Devt. Corp. back-to-back title bid are Stradcom I and Cost Wise Marketing while Naktaynay, LNP Foundation and Dragon Travel and Tours are the teams to watch in Divisions II, III and IV.
