GINGOOG CITY, Philippines – Misamis Oriental tries to accomplish what all the other teams have failed – win at home – as it opens its bid against Quezon today in the Smart Liga Pilipinas Conference II at the Mayor Arturo Lugod Gym in Gingoog City.
Winners of three legs, the streaking Meteors are heavily fancied to rule the last of 11 tour stops in the league as they play host to the defending national champions M. Lhuillier-Cebu Niños, the Iloilo Mang Inasals and the Quezon Red Oilers.
From Lugod gym, action in the event shifts to the Xavier University gym in Cagayan de Oro City for Friday’s and Saturday’s games.
No team has won at home this conference but MisOr has the tools to make it happen in the event backed by Smart, ML Kwarta Padala, Accel, Air21, Burlington, Laptop Phoneshop Exchange, Nature’s Spring and Molten and sanctioned by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP).
The Meteors, backed by Holcim Cement, Hanjin and Hapee Toothpaste, topped the Zamboanga City, Los Baños, Laguna and Cebu City legs, giving the team the top seeding in next week’s quarterfinal phase.
