John Hay seeks second Corporate Cup crown

-

MANILA, Philippines - Camp John Hay Development Corp. hopes to use its familiarity with the short but tricky John Hay Golf layout as it shoots for a second straight championship in the Philippine Corporate Cup firing off March 18 in Baguio City.

William Kim, Monet Garcia, Thirdy Escano and Shean Bedi set out the favorites in the four-to-play, three-to-count format event using the Molave scoring system owing to their local knowledge of the up-and-down par-69 layout which they flaunted in topping last year’s edition of the annual event.

Seventy-five teams composed of 300 players are seeing action in the event spread over three days with CJH DevCo, CJH Manor, Rizgolf Sports Marketing, Golforce Inc. and Rudy Project as major sponsors. Backing up the event are Fil Estate Urban Development, Mizuno, Wilson and Warbird Securities and Investigation Agency.

A battle royale is also seen in the other categories with Naktaynay also out for back-to-back title romp in Division II along with LNP Foundation and Dragon Horse Travel and Tours in Divisions III and IV.

CJH DevCo nipped Stradcom I in the countback after a spirited final day battle to capture last year’s plum in the centerpiece Division I with Stradcom again expected to contend for this year’s crown on a team built around Edong Lipat, Mark Mendoza, Michael Mendoza and Gerald Katigbak along with a host of other teams out to foil the fancied bets’ domination of the event.
