Gaddi sweeps Mini-Rok class

-

MANILA, Philippines - Christian Gaddi, named Cadet Karter of the Year during the sixth Golden Wheel at the Casino Filipino Grand Theater in Parañaque, made an impressive sweep of the pre-final and final race of the higher Mini-Rok class in the recent 2009 Philippine Karting Super Series opening leg at Carmona Circuit Philippines in Cavite.

The JeT Racing team skipper unleashed a flawless ride in the 15-lap race that had him leading from start to finish, en route to a clocking of 14:38.872 in beating his Cebuano rivals Kali Carcel and Basti Escalante.

So dominant was Gaddi that he even posted the final race’s fastest lap time of 58.403 in the 13th lap.

“The track was slippery and quite dangerous, but I’ve been to this kind of situation before, and so I knew how to react,” said Gaddi, who is backed by Bingo Bonanza Corp., Industria and Birel.

Gaddi is actually on a mission this season after almost scoring a double championship last year. With the Cadet 60 cc championship in the bag, Gaddi nearly snared the Mini-Rok crown as well, but unfortunately lost one race in the series.

Aside from the Golden Wheel title, Gaddi also ran away with the same Cadet 60 cc award from the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) in Valle Verde, Pasig. He was also the overall Cadet 60 cc national series and Asian Karting Open Championships champion, but a year of intense competition has propelled the Grade 3 Claret School student to set higher goals this year.
