MANILA, Philippines - A record field of 400 players will clash for fame and fortune in the much-awaited The Metro Card Club’s Perfect Ten poker tournament offering a guaranteed prize pool of P10 million on March 12-15 at the Metrowalk Complex in Ortigas, Pasig City.
Filipino Neil Arce, who bested a talent-laden international field to win the Asian Poker Tour worth P8.7 million in Manila recently, heads the Perfect Ten roster tipped to surpass the previous record of 330 players also set by The Metro last year.
“The Metro Card Club is staging its most ambitious project – the Perfect Ten- in its continuing effort to provide world-class events to the growing poker community,” said Nick Galan, president of The Metro Card Club.
Aside from becoming an instant celebrity in the biggest, richest local poker tournament, the winner will receive a whopping P3-million prize with the runner-up getting over P1 million, making the four-day tournament, presented by The Metro Club, truly an event to watch.
Out of the expected 400 participants, 40 players will take home a portion of the prize pool in the event held in cooperation with Pagcor.
Considered as the fastest growing “mind-sport,” poker is now widely accepted as a skills game much like chess or backgammon. In fact, international poker tournaments are now being covered by major sporting outfits such as ESPN.
