Maximo Estrella Elementary School, Dela Salle-Lipa gain Toby's volleyball finals
MANILA, Philippines - Defending champion Maximo Estrella Elementary School blasted Concepcion ES in straight sets over the weekend to make the finals again in the boys’ division of the Toby’s Junior Volleyball League.
Epifanio Maas and Mark Marcellano carried the fight, combining for 18 points as the MEES spikers scored a 25-16, 25-18 win over CES in the semifinals of the tournament backed by Shakey’s, Petron Treats and Dunkin’ Donuts.
Opposing MEES in the finals set at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow is Dela Salle Lipa, which drew fiery offensive from Olan Canobas and Christian dela Cruz to down Claret School of Quezon City, 25-22, 25-12.
It will be Dela Salle-Lipa against Colegio San Agustin in the women’s division championship scheduled at 1 p.m. tomorrow.
The DLS-Lipa spikers defeated MGC New Life Academy, 25-15, 25-17, while CSA clobbered Miriam College ES, 25-7, 25-15, in the semifinals to arrange the title duel.
CES meets Claret at 8:30 a.m.for third place in the boys’ section while MGC opposes Miriam on the third spot in the women’s bracket at 11 a.m.
