Motocross Masters of Asia on at Puerto Princesa
MANILA, Philippines - The arrival of top Thai factory riders set the stage for an even more exciting 2009 Motocross Masters of Asia–Puerto Princesa International Motocross Grand Prix kicking off today at the Sta. Monica International Racetrack in Puerto Princesa City.
The quest for the coveted crown turns more unpredictable with Honda factory rider Kriangkrai Thiannok, Yamaha factory rider Thanarat Peruat and honorary president of the FIM UAM and current Thai Federation president Thongchai Wongsawan joining the battle royale of Asia’s national champions in this biggest motorcycle spectacle sponsored by the City of Puerto Princesa, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes, CTI Knee Brace, Oakley, Petron 4T, Spyder, Castrok HJC Helmets and Department of Tourism.
Thailand is hoping to regain the crown last won by Arnon Theplib two years ago but chances are tough with Mongolia and Iran fast rising as Asian powers, aside from world caliber riders from Japan, Hong Kong, India, China, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia – thus making the most competitive and most unpredictable race yet since the event started in 2004.
The excitement and the intense action of the event will be a big treat for the constituents of Puerto Princesa City which will be celebrating its Foundation anniversary on March 4.
The bulk of the foreign delegations are set to arrive tomorrow. Indonesia brings in the biggest contingent led by former champions Aep Dadang, Yussof Irawan and Alex Wiguna while Mongolia follows with four bannered by defending champion Erdenbileg Khaliunbold who will be backed up by three riders – Boldbautar Gan-od, Temuujin Khadbaatar and rookie Dashdondog Ochirsukh.
