SSC, CSB, UPH belles in NCAA Final 4

MANILA, Philippines - Defending champion San Sebastian College, College of Saint Benilde and Perpetual Help booked Final 4 berths in the women’s division of the NCAA beach volley tournament recently at the La Salle Green Hills sand courts.

The Lady Stags pair of Lou Ann Latigay and Margarita Pepito beat Keshia de Luna and April Sartin of the Perpetual Help Lady Altas, 21-15, 21-14, then edged Letran’s duo of Krizelle Moralejo and Gena Andaya, 24-26, 21-18, 15-9.

Lady Blazers LC Quemada and Giza Yumang thrashed Marjornette Echano and Georgia Salamera of Jose Rizal University, 21-8, 21-9.

De Luna and Sartin bounced back from their loss against Latigay and Pepito by scoring a 12-21, 21-19, 16-14 win over Quemada and Yumang.

San Sebastian improved to 5-0, while St. Benilde and Perpetual are tied for second with similar 4-1 cards in this event backed by Mikasa, Gatorade, Speedo, LSGH, Committee Health Education Emergency Rescue Service (CHEERS) Medical Team and Studio 23, which will telecast the semifinals and finals of the tournament.

The Lady Knights, meanwhile, stayed on track in making it to the semifinals after Moralejo and Andaya crushed Cherry Quizon and Joy Palacio of San Beda College, 21-8, 21-17, for a 3-3 record.

In the men’s division, reigning titlist Letran inched closer to a six-game elimination sweep after Eden Canlas and Erickson Ramos nosed out Rainier Damiar and Marcelo Joaquin of the Perpetual Altas, 21-23, 21-18, 15-13.
