72 teams compete in Nestea beach volley
MANILA, Philippines - Seventy-two teams from 43 colleges and universities will vie in the Nestea Fit Beach Volley National Circuit ’09 which kicks off March 4-6 at the SM Mall of Asia Bay Area.
Ronald Chuacokiong, Nestea brand activation assistant manager, said a top purse of P100,000 will be up for grabs in the event featuring the country’s top collegiate beach volley teams.
“We are expecting a more exciting competition this year,” said Chuacokiong in yesterday’s event launch at the Bacolod Chicken Inasal in Greenhills, San Juan.
The winners of the regional events will meet in the National Finals set May 6-8 in Boracay.
After the Luzon elims at SM Mall of Asia, action shifts to Mindanao for the regional qualifier on March 26-28 at the Tagum Beach Volley Drome while the Visayas Leg will be held April 16-18 at the Parkmall in Mandaue City, Cebu.
“We’re going to Boracay again not just with the competition but also other exciting events like the concerts, celebrity challenge, parties and many more,” said Sarah Rose Lim, Nestea consumer marketing executive. – J. Villar
