Tuason racing reigns supreme

-

MANILA, Philippines - After their big sweep in the Philippine Touring Car Championship, the Tuason Racing School Racing Team and the Ford Focus Diesel again reigned supreme in the second round of the Rallycross Championship recently in Clark, Pampanga.

The team, composed of Bjorn Ongtiabok, Mark Betom, Dominic Samson, Mike Tuason and team engineer Francisco Blanco, qualified for the shoot-out after setting one of the top times in the RP 14 class.

The competition was participated in by novice and veteran drivers, including 10-time rallye champion Vip Isada and his son Ivan.

Ongtiabok emerged the big winner, edging out both father and son to win the overall crown for the TRS Racing Team supported by Ford, Goodyear Racing, Petron Ultron, Petron E10, Bioactiv, Standard Insurance, Rota, Fremuff, Aguila Auto Glass, K&N, OMP, Starbright Body Kits, Dupont, Bilstein, FCP, H&R, Unichip, Speedlab, Tradeshow International, and media partners Business World, NU 107, and C! Magazine.

Another surprise is the dominance of the Ford Focus Diesel amidst a sea of Hondas. The Ford Focus, whose winning heritage comes from the World Rally Championship (WRC) race cars, has performed superbly out of the box with almost the same stock setting used for the racing school classes.

“We wanted to show the versatility of the car and also support the different races being organized in the country,” said TRS president JP Tuason. “We want our instructors and students to have diverse experience and also help the growth of the RP motorsports in the process.”
