Batang Pier vow to win title in Game 4

-

MANILA, Philippines -Harbour Centre tries to cap its record campaign in the Philippine Basketball League (PBL) with a victory over Magnolia in Game Four of the PG Flex Linoleum Cup championship series today at The Arena in San Juan.

The Batang Pier are gunning for no less than a sixth straight championship in their final stint in the country’s premier amateur league which they dominated the last four years.

“This is the mother of all battles for us,” said Harbour coach Jorge Gallent. “We will play as if there’s no more tomorrow.”

Actually, the Batang Pier can afford to drop their match, set at 2:30 p.m. at The Arena in San Juan, as they lead the best-of-five series, 2-1, after seizing the pivotal win, 93-73, last Saturday.

Harbour, which erased the four straight championships of the Stags when it beat Hapee for its fifth championship last year, hopes to sustain the momentum of that big win.

Meantime, the league will honor the prominent members of the Class of 2008 – Hapee’s Gabe Norwood and Harbour’s Ty Tang and Solomon Mercado – in simple rites.
