Doormat St. Jude zooms in on semis

-

MANILA, Philippines -- St. Jude Catholic School is suddenly experiencing a “high” of sorts in the qarterfinals of the 39th Yakult Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball Association and that’s all because of Kim Lo.

Despite placing last at the end of the elimination round, St. Jude Catholic School now has a chance to make it to the semifinals and enjoy a twice-to-beat advantage.

The tournament is supported by PG Flex Linoleum and Outlast Batteries and aired over Makisig Network Sky Cable channels 76 and 82.

This came after St. Jude clobbered Grace Christian College last Friday to forge a rubber match for the last semis berth at 5:30 p.m. today at the UNO High Scghool Gym.

Starring for St. Jude in that victory was Lo, who had a monster performance finishing with 23 points and 17 rebounds aside form five assists.

The 6-0 Lo, a junior on the team, has been almost unstoppable as, aside from grabbing offensive boards and scoring on putbacks, he can also bring the leather down with dexterity. Lo, who turns 17 on Oct. 1, plans to take up mechanical engineering in college.

Winner of the St. Jude-Grace Christian rubber match faces host Uno High in the semis where it would enjoy a twice-to-beat edge. The other semifinals match-up pits St. Stephen High versus defending champion Xavier School.
