MANILA, Philippines -- Members of the national pool from two golf stables slug it out for top honors in the WWWExpress-DHL National Amateur Golf Championships as the ICTSI bets go up against the Cangolf mainstays beginning tomorrow at the north course of the Canlubang golf complex in Laguna.
Defending champion Rufino Bayron heads the ICTSI squad that includes reigning national titlist Ferdie Aunzo, former RP amateur winner Anthony Fernando and Antonio Asistio while Mark Fernando and former national team mainstays Jessie Balasabas and Jhonnel Ababa compose the club bets raring to flash their familiarity with the tough par-72 layout and lead the chase for the championship.
But a host of others will be out to spoil the two teams’ anticipated duel with Indon mid-amateur champ Rizal Arya spearheading the foreign contingent seeing action in the four-day tournament sponsored by WWWExpress and DHL.
Bacolod-based Koreans Jae Woo Yang, Sung Won Park and Yu Soung Su and Ji Hyun Lee, a protégé of local pro Rey Pagunsan, are also competing.
