3-on-3 Baller slated March 7-8

-

The 2009 Primovit Futures 3-on-3 Baller Battle gets under way March 7-8 with more than 75 teams expected to participate at the covered courts of the Ateneo High Shool.

Expected to defend their crowns are junior boys champions La Salle Greenhills with players from the school’s NCAA team, a girls’ team from Adamson University which won last year’s junior girls’ crown, San Beda College Alabang in the midgets division, and Ateneo Grade School in the mini division.

Presented by Primovit MultiVitamins and organized by Futures Sports and Events as part of its nationwide year-round basketball development, the event has also been held previously in Cebu and Davao, showing the big attraction of street ball basketball, now a recognized FIBA event.

The event is also supported by Cool Choice Juice, Dunlop, Del Monte Fruitini and Captain Bawang.

“Ever since the regular 3-on-3 basketball here was stopped a few years ago, we decided to revive it and the Futures Basketball League (FBL) has been doing it for the last couple of years, and the number of teams has been steadily growing,” said Niño Sinco of the organizing group.

Format of the tournament will be a single round elimination for the teams, which will be divided into groups, depending on the number of teams in each division, and knockout format starting from the quarterfinals all the way to the finals, according to tournament director Tyrone Limon.

Elimination games will be played on March 7 and the finals to be played the following day.
