Coaching clinic up in Dumaguete

Provincial basketball coaches from Dumaguete City and the province of Negros Oriental get a chance to improve their coaching skills with the holding of a three-day coaching seminar Feb. 20-22 at the Dumaguete City Multi-Purpose Center.

Dubbed as the 2009 Primovit Basketball Coaches Sports Science and Coaching Seminar, the three day event is expected to attract close to 40 local coaches from all over the province with the city of Dumaguete supporting the event organized by Futures Sports & Events, organizers of the nationwide Futures Basketball League.

“Our aim is to uplift the level of basketball coaching in the entire province of Negros Oriental which has produced competitive teams in the past from schools like the Silliman University, Foundation University, and the Negros Oriental State University, “ said Niño Sinco from the organizing group.

Sinco, who has a diploma in sports coaching and a master’s degree in sports medicine and athletic training from the United States Sports Academy in Mobile, Alabama, and a former athletic team trainor for PBA teams like Ginebra, Purefoods, and San Miguel Beer, will be joined by Air21/Burger King assistant coach and Ateneo de Manila PRADA team head coach Benjie Sipin and Tyrone Limon, a member of the coaching staff of the Coach E basketball School and FBL tournament director in conducting the seminar.

The event is also supported by the city government of Dumaguete, Gatorade, Bacchus Energy Drink, Dumaguete Royal Suites Hotel, Accord Capital Inc., Kopiko Instant Coffee, and gameface.ph.
