St. Stephen High School made the race for the No. 2 spot in the 39th Yakult Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball Association a little bit interesting following a 51-49 upset win over perceived powerhouse Grace Christian College.
While Xavier School has already secured the only automatic semifinals berth, the No. 2 team at the end of the elims enjoys a twice-to-beat advantage over the last placed team in the quarterfinal round.
The event is supported by PG Flex Linoleum and Outlast Batteries and aired over Makisig Network Sky Cable Channel 76 and 82.
Starring for St. Stephen in booking its second win in five outings was gunner Clyde Aparicio who paced his squad with 16 points and eight rebounds.
Aparicio is a 5-10 small forward who is on his final year in the Tiong Lian tournament. A fan of Jayjay Helterbrand in the PBA and Chris Paul and Kobe Bryant in the NBA, Aparicio is one of the leading scorers of the tournament and opposing teams almost always worry about his waxing hot.
