R2 Builders-Harbour Centre extended its dominance in the Bro. Dominic Berardelli Cup by winning two of the four division titles in the tournament among La Salle Alumni basketball players.
Bannered by Mikee Romero and Erick Arejola, R2 Builders-Harbour Centre beat La Salle-Dasmariñas in the championship to rule the centerpiece Open Division for a record fifth straight year in the event hosted by the La Salle Greenhills Alumni Association (LSGHAA).
Aside from Romero and Arejola, the other members of the team who at one time studied at any of the La Salle member schools are Gino Ferrer, Titus Mendoza, Elvis Tolentino, Noli Locsin, Junie Lopez, Dwight Lago, Rafa Dinglasan, Johnedel Cardel, Jerwin Agarao, Arnel Guste, Carlos Reyes, Juno Sauler, Mike Padolina, Oliver Lao, Alex Lao, Jannon Bunye, Martin Urra, Jay Lapinid, Gabby Velasco, Ravi Chulani, Joseph Pagulayan and San Juan Mayor JV Ejercito.
Locsin, Lopez and Arejola struck hardest in the finals to beat the team of Mat Makalintal, Luigi Trillo, Dino Aldeguer and the 6-foot-5 duo of Joey Sta. Maria and Erik Reyes.
Its team in the Fellowship A division beat Team RCBC in another one-game face-off for its fourth straight title. Team R2-Harbour Centre, backed by construction magnate Reghis Romero, also performed well in two other divisions by finishing second.
Arejola, team manager of Harbour Centre in the PBL, emerged as the MVP of the Open division after averaging 20 points a game while Oliver Lao was the MVP in the Fellowship A division.
