Defending champion Xavier School and Grace Christian College rolled to their second straight victories by downing separate rivals in the 39th Yakult Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball Association (MMTBA) Championship at the UNO High School gym.
Jeric Teng fired 35 points to lead the Xavier Golden Stallions to a 97-70 win over St. Stephen last Friday as the team stayed unbeaten in the annual event among the country’s premier Fil-Chinese schools.
Grace Christian College notched its second straight win as it downed Hope Christian High School, 82-68, over the weekend.
LA Chua, Christian So and Justin Ngo starred for Grace Christian squad by combining for 55 points in the event backed by Rusty Lopez, Converse, Puma, Davies Paint, FG Jeans, Burlington, MEC Computer, Healthy Options, Outlast and PG Flex Linoleum.
Meantime, 14-time champion Chiang Kai Shek College, managed by Edward Tio, bounced back from a shocking opening day loss to UNO High School as it edged St. Jude Catholic School, 67-63, also last Friday.
