NGAP to hold R&A Rules seminar

The National Golf Association of the Phils. (NGAP) will hold the 2009 R&A Rules School on Jan. 21-22 with representatives of the various golf clubs in the country invited to participate at Alabang Country Club.

R&A Rules officials Alan Holmes, chairman, David Wybar, deputy chair, and assistant director Kevin Barker are set to arrive on Jan. 18 to conduct the two-day seminar and practical demonstration on the course.

This is the second time the Philippines is hosting an R&A Rules School.

The seminar involves a detailed study of the technique of top officials through the analysis of televised Rules incidents, practical demonstrations of the Rules, role play sessions during which the participants will deliver rulings to the R&A instructors, and, finally, the completion of a written exam.

The school will consist of discussions, presentations and practical on-course demonstrations before delegates take the examination.

Registration is still open. Fee is P3,500 (NGAP member-clubs) and P5,000 (NGAP non-member clubs). inclusive of lunch and morning/afternoon snacks.

The seminar has so far attracted 70 registrants, including 24 foreigners from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Korea golf associations.

The NGAP is inviting all golf clubs in the country to participate and get the rare chance to acquire first-hand teaching of Golf Rules by The R&A officials.

There are still 2008-2011 Rules of Golf booklets available (free) at the NGAP office. NGAP-member clubs are given priority.
