BANGKOK – Antonio Lascuña turned cold on the final day of the season-ending Volvo Masters of Asia, struggling with a 75 and finishing tied for 14th place at the par-72 Thai Country Club.
Lascuña started the day just a stroke behind five players who shared the lead after the third round, but just couldn’t hold his ground following previous rounds of 70-67-71 for a 283 total.
Lam Chih Bing of Singapore won the tournament with a 67 and with his 274 total towed Chapchai Nirat of Thailand (69-275), and Australians Terry Pilkadaris (66-277), David Gleeson (71-278) and Andrew Dodt (65-278).
Five other Filipinos competed but failed to put up a fight.
Mars Pucay finished in a six-way tie for 31st place at 287 after rounds of 74-71-71-71 while Angelo Que was a shot off, tied with five others for 37th place after scoring 72-74-70-72.
Juvic Pagunsan, who had something going with his 69 the other day, limped home with a 76 and was tied for 43rd place with three others at 289. Artemio Murakami also had a 76 and was alone in 53rd place.
Ferdinand Aunzo, an amateur from the Philippines, followed in the footsteps of Pagunsan and Murakami, firing his own 76 that gave him a 303 total and at 66th place had only two amateurs behind him at the close of the tournament.
