Yamaha, Tiger, cop top honors in InsideRacing

CARMONA, Cavite – Yamaha, Tiger and Motorcycle Taipei Research Team (MTRT) ran away with the top honors behind their ace riders recently in the second InsideRACING Grand Prix (IRGP2) at the Carmona Circuit Philippines here.

The GP-style annual spectacle emerged a bigger blockbuster, drawing a record crowd of 7,500 and 99 entries with the backing of Bridgestone Tires, Shell Advance, Castrol Power1, Motolite and Denso Spark Plugs with media partners motorcyclephilippines.com, Stoplight TV, Bikes, and The Racing Line TV.

Yamaha took three titles behind Jeffrey Chan, Jaime Barcial and Maico Buncio in this event sanctioned by FIM-National Motorcycle Safety and Sports Association (NAMSSA).

Chan, parading his Yamaha Crypton Z, bagged the Castrol Power 1 115 GP crown while Barcial pulled off a photo-finish triumph with his Yamaha sniper to capture the Shell Advance Masters Trophy.       

Buncio, on the other hand, unveiled another impressive performance aboard his Yamaha X-1 to clinch the Castrol Power1 130 GP title.

Tiger hogged the limelight behind Victor Laude and his Tiger Matrix to win the Shell Advance Juniors Trophy while MTRT shone behind Cassey Ng who claimed the Denso Spark Plugs Automatic Grand Prix crown with his Yamaha Mio.

The Motolite Fastest Qualifier Awards went to Tiger’s Mark Medina (Juniors), Suzuki’s Johnlery Enriquez (115GP), Yamaha’s Jaime Barcial (Masters), MTRT’s Cassey Ng (AutoGP) and Yamaha’s Maico Buncio (130GP).

The InsideRACING-Motorcycle Dealers Association of the Philippines’ Fastest Privateer Awards went to Sonic Boom Motorsports’ Tracy Gaddi (Juniors), Mark Barcial of ART-Tres Scooters (115GP), Bullet-Revzone-Dudshop’s Noel De Measa (Masters), RAR Racing’s Raniel Resuello (130GP) and MTRT’s Cassey Ng (AutoGP).

Meanwhile, Yamaha Motor Philippines took three IR Manufacturer Awards in the 115GP, 130GP and Masters while Tiger Thailand Philippines took the Juniors and PMRC was victorious in the Automatic GP.

Chan took an early lead from the biggest grid of the day with 28 entries and controlled the tempo all the way to win the Castrol Power1 115 Grand Prix over Kawasaki’s Tracy Soyangco and ART-Tres Scooters’ Mark Barcial.

Barcial delivered the most exciting win as he sputtered on the last lap and was caught up by Kawasaki’s defending champion Mark Anthony Chua. He regained his poise in the last few meters of the race and registered the closest IRGP finish over Chua. Yamaha teammate Jeff Chan took third followed by Suzuki’s Tomas Bauzon.

Buncio likewise kept his lead coast-to-coast in winning the Castrol Power1 130 Grand Prix plum over Kawasaki’s Rizaldy Canare, RAR Racing’s Raniel Resuello and fourth placer John Lery Enriquez of Suzuki.

Laude took the spoils in the Shell Advance Juniors Trophy after a technical infraction resulted to the disqualification of Anthony Roman and James Barcial. SonicBoom’s Tracy Gaddi and SK-Norkis’ Randall Ylagan were declared 2nd and 3rd place finishers.

Ng dominated the Denso Spark Plugs Automatic Grand Prix, pulling a sweep over teammate Anthony Ang and PMR’s Benjo Mendoza..
