El Menshawy, who gained the top seeding in this tournament following the withdrawal of local ace Francis Casey Alcantara, will face fifth seed Korean Yong-Jae Kwon, who survived unseeded Thai Kriangkrai Prajoubphansri, 7-6 (7), 7-6 (0).
Fourth seed Omar Elkheshen of Egypt and seventh seed Motoaki Kita of Japan scored contrasting wins to likewise advance to the quarterfinal round.
Elkheshen downed Chinese qualifier Lin Kai-Jie, 6-1, 6-2, while Kita rallied past unseeded Korean Sangmin Park, 0-6, 6-4, 6-2.
In the doubles, unseeded Jakhonggir Jalalov of Uzbekistan and Christian Oliver Lee of Malaysia stunned second seeds Prajoubphansri and Chanon Varapongsittikul of Thailand, 1-6, 6-4, 6-2, to reach the quarters against locals Romar Hernandez and Jeson Patrombon, who turned back Chinese pair Lin Kai-Jie and Pan Yuan-Tao, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.
