ABW edges Agui in thriller for Fil A title
BAGUIO CITY – ABW Leaves of Life turned back the challenge of Camp Aguinaldo to eke out one of the closest victories for Fil A division title at the close of the seniors’ play in the 59th Fil-Am Men’s Golf Invitational held at the Baguio Country Club.
ABW nipped Aguinaldo by a single point Wednesday, 91-90, then repeated during Thursday’s final round, 92-91 to win, 408-406. Mizuno finished third with 391 points after a 90.
By contrast, the Am A team of Camp Aguinaldo was victorious after closing out with 102 and 352 total to beat Macabud by 15 points which closed out with a 90 and 337. Villa Cacho finished third after an 89 and 327.
In Fil E, Sitel LBC scored a closing round of 74 for 346 points and win by just four over two-day leader Dutch Yogurt, which closed with 73 points for 342. Team Club Elite ended up third with 323 after a 72.
Square & Compass had a closing round of 77 for 314 and beat PGMC Nickel Boys by four strokes. PGMC had 78 and 310 total. Ram Masters wounded up third with 287 after an 88.
Guam Friendship had a final round of 85 for 302 points and win by 23 points over Brassie/Square & Compass (65=279) and Eva Airways at third with 72 and 271 total.
After a so so start, Paga Washington outscored its opponents by as many as 20 points to take a 49-point victory in Am G. Chamorro closed with a 70 for 237, three off Rising Sun Japan which scored also a 70 on the final round.
