Harbour makes it four

- Joey Villar -

Five-peat champion Harbour Centre walloped BK, 83-70, yesterday to roll to its fourth victory in the 2008 PBL PG Flex Linoleum Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Reed Juntilla erupted for 18 points while Rico Maierhofer, BJ Fernandez and JR Cawaling chipped in 11, 10 and 10 points, respectively, for the Batang Pier.

The Mikee Romero-owned franchise erected a 45-21 lead and hung tough in the face of BK’s fiery uprising in the final half to preserve its clean slate.

After BK closed in at 58-61, Harbour Centre unleashed a 14-3 blitz to all but settle the outcome of the game.

Earlier, Bacchus Energy Drink shut down Pharex in the last two minutes to carve out a masterful 91-83 victory.

Rey Guevarra, a Letran standout and former slam dunk king, fired 16 points, including the two free throws that shattered an 83-all deadlock with over two minutes remaining.

The Generix, who dominated the first three quarters, muffed their last five attempts as they suffered a fourth straight setback.

“Credit our defense in the last three minutes for our win. We lost our last two games because we did not play good defense. But today, the boys played real hard,” said Bacchus coach Lawrence Chongson.

The Jappy Pascual-owned Pharex franchise appeared headed to snapping out of a three-game skid after erecting a 66-57 advantage late in the third quarter.
