Breeders' Cup this weekend

The Marho (Metropolitan Association of Race Horse Owners) Breeders’ Cup caps its weeklong racing festival with an explosive card featuring six championship races offering a total prize money of P7 million this weekend at Santa Ana.

On tap tomorrow are special and trophy races sponsored by Transprint Corp., Esicor Inc., Good Provision, and Philtown Properties Inc. with added prizes of P30,000 for first, P12,500 for second, and P7,500 for third placers who are Marho members. Non-member winners will receive P10,000.

Philracom is also sponsoring the Rep. Amado Bagatsing Stakes for the benefit of the Manila Red Cross and Sto Niño de Tondo Parish. Marho is putting up two races in honor of horseman-educator George Stribling and international race-caller Peter Morrison.

Sunday will see the staging of six Marho Breeders’ Cup championship races, including the 900-m Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office-MBC Sprint, the 1,500-m Philracom Juvenile Colts and Juveniles Fillies for two-year-olds.
