New Balance, in cooperation with Clark Freeport Philippines, is holding its seventh annual New Balance Power Race Nov. 15-16, at the scenic and smog-free zone.
The first day features the kids fun run (for 12 and under), at 4 p.m. and the 5K Open at 5:35 p.m. The 10K Open and 25K Open for all ages will be held Nov. 16, at 5:30 a.m.
New Balance will be using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chips in the 25K run.
Last year, New Balance pioneered the use of RFID chips to easily identify the individual racers and ensure more accurate results compared to conventional race timing.
Registration for the two-day New Balance Power Race started Oct. 15 at New Balance outlets in Glorietta, Shangri-La and Festival Supermall, Planet Sports branches in Power Plant, Trinoma and V-Mall, and The Athlete’s Foot at Robinson’s Place Ermita and the Clark CDC Tourism Office.
Registration fee for the kids fun run is P200, which comes with the NB kids lunch box at the finish line. Fee is P250 for the 5K Open, P350 for the 10K Open and age categories, and P550 for the 25K Open and age categories.
Deadline for submission of entries is on Nov. 7.
Registered participants for any of the four races earn a 20 percent discount on the official New Balance Power Race 2008 shoes – the MR/WR1224, the MR/WR805, the MR/WR859, and the MR800 models.
