Barcial emerges underbone king

Jaime Barcial of Castrol-Yamaha mustered enough points to capture the overall plum of the 2008 San Mig Coffee Underbone King Championship Series recently at the Batangas Racing Circuit in Rosario, Batangas.

Barcial only finished second and third in the two 150cc Denso Open races to gain 42 points in the championship leg, the same points gained by Yamaha teammate and title rival Masato Fernando.

But with the drop-two system, Barcial bagged the title with 305 points against Fernando’s 300 to emerge as the San Mig Coffee Underbone King.

The event is sanctioned by the National Motorcycle Sports and Safety Association (NAMSSA) and sponsored by San Mig Coffee, San Miguel Corporation, Petron, Denso Iridium Power, Inside Racing, Stoplight TV and PagCor Sports.

Meanwhile, Maico Buncio has not only swept the 150-cc Denso Open but also pulled off victories in the 125-cc. San Mig Coffee Sports Production class and the 125-cc. San Mig Coffee Super Stock class.
