-

Miriam College is looking at a triple celebration when it seeks championships in junior volleyball and midgets and junior basketball in the final playing weekend of the 39th WNCAA’s first semester at the St. Scholastica’s College gym today.

First in Miriam’s schedule is San Beda College Alabang in Game 3 of the junior volleyball finals at 10:30 a.m.

The Miriam Katipuneras won the finals opener, 25-20, 25-19, 25-16, on Oct. 11, but the SBC-A Red Lions, runner-up to the St. Scholastica Scions last season, evened up matters last week, 25-17, 25-20, 20-25, 25-13.

Miriam next sets its sights on a midget basketball Grandslam when it plays De La Salle Zobel at 1 p.m. Miriam and La Salle College duel in junior basketball at 2:30 p.m.

During last Saturday’s Game 1, Teri Anne Quimbo scored 14 points to lead the midget Katipuneras to a 57-32 victory. Jennifer Dimaano fired 31 points in the junior squad’s 90-70 win, LSC’s first loss this year after sweeping its eight elimination round games and ousting SBCA in the semifinals.
