RP assured of bronze in sepak

BALI, Indonesia – The Philippines was assured of a bronze medal in sepak takraw after the women’s regu team marched to the semifinals Thursday in the first Asian Beach Games here.

The team, led by Southeast Asian Games medalist Deseree Autor and veteran Sarah Jane Catain, beat Thailand, 21-2, 21-3, in Group Y preliminaries at the Inna Grand Bali Hotel beach to advance to the next round.

The men’s team was not as fortunate, losing to Brunei, 17-21, and Thailand, 5-21, in Group A.
