Cebuana ace Sally Mae Siso, representing Visayas, displayed her winning form throughout to lead the title romp in the 2008 MILO Junior Tennis Cup recently.
Siso swept her three matches in the single round-robin format national finals to claim the girl’s 14-under crown, her fifth championship in as many outings in the country’s premier youth tennis tournament.
Sharing the limelight were North Luzon bet Deo Olivarez who captured the10-under unisex title with a 3-0 record; South Luzon’s Mark Escares who won the boys’ 12-under with a 2-1 card; South Luzon’s Erika Lagura, who pocketed the girls’ 12-under plum with a 3-0 slate; and North Luzon’s Dheo Talatayod, who seized the boys’ 14-under plum with a 4-0 mark.
Held in line with the commitment of MILO to promote sports and youth development, the MILO Junior Tennis Cup featured the country’s top young netters in a nationwide battle for supremacy. Competitors went through tough qualifying meets at the North Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao levels with the regional winners advancing to the national finals.
With their victories, the national champions earned tickets to this year’s Malaysia Junior Tennis Circuit to be held in Selangor on Nov. 18-22, Langkawi on Nov. 24-28, Perlis on Nov. 29 to Dec. 3 and in Penang on Dec. 4-8.
